Great romance and mystery all in one. And best of all a happy ending. And a lesson was also in there for a lot of us.

Excellent story about abuse and all the elements that it encompasses. The main characters are quite remarkable in themselves yet have the failings of a human being. This story teaches, has excitement and introducing knowledge of demolition.

A very sensitive portrayal of abuse and forgiveness and love, this book is a keeper.

This book was an unusual romance novel in that it dealt with marital abuse and the long lasting effect it has on both the victim and abuser. I was pleased that the basic premise was LEAVE. In this novel, the couple are thrown together after a ten year separation and have a chance to come to terms with the behaviors that broke their marriage and individual souls. Another serious plot line dealt with becoming a widow and learning to deal with a new single life. The author’s conclusion was more pedantic than I like.

Complex, sad, happy, surprising in some areas but overall a very good read. Loved Donovan and Kate who each had their own demons to fight. Love wins in the end!

**SPOILER ALERT** I come from abuse. I've never believed there was a good enough reason to either explain it, forget it, or forgive it. Thank God for Ms. Putnam. There are reasons for it, and while it isn't ever forgotten; forgiveness exists and is possible. The characters Ms Putnam has created here are rich in texture and complexity. They lead real lives, share real pain, joy, and love. Our families and friendships are so complicated, and sometimes downright strange, yet we love them. Interwoven threads of family and friendship which bring everyone together abound in the story. I am so happy I downloaded this book. We're never to old to learn new lessons and peel back another layer of truth. About ourselves and others. Thank you, Ms. Putney.
